MAD Brussels is celebrating local innovation by presenting Cru Atelier and Ori Orisun on its booth at the Renewal exhibition. These two designers were selected following a call for applications to be exhibited on a ‘supported by MAD’ stand, in order to demonstrate their innovative approach to sustainable design.

The goal of participating in the Renewal exhibition is to present and highlight the innovative approaches of Ori Orisun and Atelier Cru in sustainable design. By showcasing their materials and finished products, we aim to illustrate how these environmentally friendly practices contribute to sustainability and innovation in design. This participation also underscores our commitment to the circular economy and fosters enriching exchanges with other industry professionals. Ori Orisun and the founders of Atelier Cru will demonstrate, through their pieces and material research, the tangible impact of eco-responsible design.

About Cru Atelier & Ori Orisun

Ori Orisun is paving the way for a bio-inclusive future by working with polymers produced by insects. Her research explores innovative materials, such as hand-blown insect cocoons, and utilizes blowing and 3D printing techniques to create unique pieces that combine aesthetics and durability. Her work highlights how organic materials can transform our environments while incorporating nature-friendly practices.

Cru Atelier,  a creative laboratory of eco-responsible design, uses bio-sourced materials such as raw earth, hempcrete, and coffee grounds, highlighting the geological layers of our soil. Their creations demonstrate the use of rammed earth concrete to craft pieces that evoke ancient columns, while a lamp made from rammed earth offers a visual and symbolic connection with our planet.

The creations of Ori Orisun and Atelier Cru reveal the importance of creativity in building a more environmentally respectful future.

about renewal

Founded by Duplex, Renewal is an exhibition and fair dedicated to eco-design, local production, and the use of materials from the circular economy. Gathering 25 eco-designers, the event also features a materials library, conferences, debates, and workshops.

The exhibition explores how design can encourage a mindful lifestyle by promoting awareness, connection with nature, and sustainable habits. It highlights the transition to a circular economy by emphasizing resource efficiency and waste reduction, while showcasing sustainable production processes and innovative uses of waste and recycled materials.

Renewal inspires a deep respect for materials and the creative process, encouraging designers to engage with them to create durable objects. It also fosters meaningful connections between designers, materials experts, and manufacturers to promote sustainable design.
