SPEAKER

Kiki van Eijk — Designer, artist and teacher

Kiki van Eijk founded Studio Kiki&Joost with her partner Joost van Bleiswijk and dedicated her practice for over two decades to foster imagination and intuition. Inspired by a childlike sense of wonder, Kiki's world is lyrical and colorful, yet refined by a rigorous attention to skillful craftsmanship. Her wide range of work extends from fine furniture to large scale installation, from architecture to accessories, from lighting to textile and ceramics. Regardless of the scale, handmade and human touch remains at the heart of her process and reinforces a physical and emotional approach to contemporary design.

Her independent sculptural work has been presented in museums and galleries worldwide and her collaborations include brands and institutions as Coachella, Hermès, Google, Saint-Louis, Cor Unum, Bisazza, Rijksmuseum, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Tilburg Textile Museum, among a multitude of private collectors. Working out of a massive studio and workshop in Eindhoven, Kiki van Eijk has always used craft as a bridge between our roots and our future to became one the most accomplished names in Dutch design.

Today she runs Studio Thinking Hands, a core studio within Design Academy Eindhoven’s BA program, while also being involved in a multitude of social projects using design for common social good.
