"Broken: Mending and Repair in a Throwaway World" is the sixth book by award-winning writer Katie Treggiden. Treggiden explores the work of 25 artists, curators and designers who incorporate "repair" into their oeuvres in various ways. Throughout the book, Treggiden asks readers not only to repair their belongings, but to likewise address what is broken in our culture, systems and society. Only by acknowledging this damage, will we be able to create new order; and thus tell new and better stories.
Katie Treggiden is an author, journalist, podcaster and keynote speaker who champions a circular approach to design. She is also the founder and director of Making Design Circular, a membership community of designers who contribute to a thriving planet with each homemade product. With 20 years of experience in the creative industries, Treggiden is a regular contributor to The Guardian, Crafts Magazine and Design Milk. She is currently focusing her research on the question "can craft save the world?
